The Underground Railroad rips through any preconceptions about slavery in the Deep South of America, challenging the tendency to simply make heroes of those who suffered. Emerging first in South Carolina, Cora catches glimpses of pre-Civil War America and the sheer brutality and evil suffered by its black citizens. Starting on a cotton plantation in Georgia, the story follows Cora, a young slave, as she makes an escape through the Underground Railroad.
